What is MCP?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor connect to external tools and data sources. The Kanal MCP server uses it so your assistant can read your WhatsApp marketing data and act in your Kanal account.
Which AI assistants work with Kanal?
Any MCP-compatible assistant: Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor all connect to the Kanal MCP server. You write in plain language and the assistant works on your real campaigns and conversations.
Can the assistant send a campaign without my approval?
No. Sending a campaign takes two steps: the assistant prepares the send and shows you the audience, the date and the estimated cost, then the campaign only goes out after your explicit confirmation.
Can the assistant create segments and automations?
Yes. It creates segments from orders, WhatsApp activity, country or a group, and tells you their size. It also builds automations step by step, then validates them. You then switch them on in Kanal.
Does the assistant see my customers' data?
Yes, the data in your Kanal account that it needs to handle your request: contacts, conversations, campaigns and performance. It reaches it through your connection. How that data is then processed depends on the provider of the assistant you use.
How do I connect Kanal to my assistant?
You need a Kanal account with your store connected. Book a demo and we will walk you through connecting Kanal to Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor, or install Kanal from the Shopify App Store first.
